This was our third and final stop in Arkansas, right on the Mississippi River in West Memphis. Directly across the river is Tennessee, which is the next state we’ll be visiting. We pulled in around 10pm, setup the RV, and promptly made some trout tacos with the last two trout we caught in the White River. This was going to be a quick stop, with us leaving around noon the following day. We elected to stay at Tom Sawyer’s RV Park instead of a gas station because we wanted to wake up on the bank of the Mississippi and show it to the boys.
After dinner, during our last walk of the night with Boomer, I managed to get some nice moody pictures of the river. There were no stars, but clouds and lighting from nearby Memphis lent an interesting air to the photos.
The next morning before school/work we walked around and watched the barges motor down the river. There were also some stocked ponds on the property but between work, school, and our 12pm checkout time, we didn’t have the opportunity to press our luck with the fishing. Maybe next time…
We’re now off to Tennessee to visit with some good friends of ours who managed to escape California about a year ago. After that visit we’re going to be spending the week with Lana’s cousins from New Jersey who are driving down to meet us. We’ll be in Tennessee for the next week and excited to see what the state has to offer.
Wild-caught trout tacos!! Yum!!!
What an amazing trip for you as a family, but also for your boys. They’ll remember this forever!
Wow! So cool!
