While there’s a lot to do in Portland, the purpose of our stopover was a quick visit with friends. First stop was Friday evening with my good high school friend Jonah, his wife Cindi, and their kids Hana and Kiran (who our boys hit it off with). We had a great time catching up over a delicious home cooked meal including ribs and fresh blueberry pie. There may have been several bottles of wine included as well.
Portland may have the most aggressive yet poorly enforced ban on RV camping in the West. This didn’t stop us from camping out overnight on the street next to Jonah and Cindi’s house (even though it was clearly not “that type” of neighborhood. Fortunately for us though, we managed to avoid the RV camping police.
The next morning we stopped by Gabe and Andrea’s house (Gabe being my friend and former coworker) to hangout with them and meet their brand new twins. As a bonus for Boomer, he got to play with their dog Moosie while we all hung out in the backyard.
One of these days we’ll come back to Portland and see more of the city, something I didn’t do even when I was coming up regularly for work.
